March 8, 2019

Statements

According to the 2018 World Economic Forum (WEF), Australia has ranked 39 out of 149 for overall gender equality. In 2006, Australia ranked 15. [1]

鈥淚nternational Women鈥檚 Day gives us a great opportunity to pause and reflect each year, but our commitment has to be for the whole year,鈥 said Kareen Riley-Takos, General Manager - Operations of 美姬社区.

Closing the gender gap in different aspects of the community, from the boardroom to sports coverage, is the focus of this year鈥檚 International Women鈥檚 Day.

This year鈥檚 campaign 鈥楤alance for Better' reflects on gender balance needing attention all the time, everywhere noting that balance drives a better working world.

鈥淯sually, the term balance is associated with 鈥榳ork鈥 and 鈥榣ife鈥, which is very important in the modern working environment. Why would gender be any different?鈥 said Ms Riley-Takos.

鈥淲e鈥檙e incredibly lucky to have a diverse and gender balanced organisation and Senior Leadership team.

鈥淲e know this helps us make better decisions and deliver on our mandate. The more diversity and balance we can bring, the better we will be in developing comprehensive standards that support the community and make Australian life better.鈥
