Hydrogen standards for the evolution of energy
Statements
As Australia transitions to a low-carbon future, hydrogen has been recognised as a 鈥榗lean鈥 energy source that can help support this shift.
美姬社区 has been working closely with and to understand how standards could assist the development of the hydrogen industry in Australia. As a result the Hydrogen Standards Forum Outcomes Report was recently published.
The report maps the outcomes from the Hydrogen Standards Forum as well as presents the next steps for standards development and international participation in the hydrogen sector.
鈥淭here is huge potential for hydrogen to succeed in the Australian context,鈥 explained 美姬社区 CEO, Dr Bronwyn Evans. 鈥淣ot only does it present a sustainable option for fuel, it also opens up new investment opportunities.鈥
鈥淥ur stakeholder consultations focused on hydrogen production, storage, transportation and use cases to break down the different needs of the supply chain. We now have a clear set of recommendations to help us support the sector as it expands.鈥
A wide range of stakeholders were invited to participate in the Hydrogen Forum to ensure broad views of the hydrogen sector and its future were captured. This included stakeholders from industry, government, regulators, consumers and academia.
鈥淎s part of our role in supporting the establishment of a conducive environment for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies to thrive, we have identified that standards are one of the most important areas to assist the growth of this new sector,鈥 said HMA CEO, Claire Johnson.
鈥淲e appreciate the opportunity to work with 美姬社区 to leverage existing international hydrogen standards and create a safe and sustainable hydrogen sector in Australia.鈥
